Army in search operations in Viswamadu area recovered a LTTE torture center and a prison complex.
The torture center was half underground and comprised of small chambers fenced with barbed wires in all sides. Army says that some prison cells were in open air with barbed wires overhead as well so as to make the tortured person to suffer from rainy and sunny weathers. A half-built torture chamber and a lecture hall for the detained persons were also recovered by Army.

A little distance beyond, there is another building with a graceful outlook with better prison cells. Army says that this place was maintained to show the foreign organizations that their prisoners are held in good conditions.

Army also recovered a large cache of arms buried in this area. They include Arul bombs, Pasilan bombs, claymores, mortars and a large number of ammunition.
