LTTE has another aircraft, Daya Master reveals

Daya Master who surrendered the Army recently said that LTTE has one more aircraft and it has been dismantled and hidden.
Daya Master has verified that LTTE Air Wing underwent pilot training from Singapore and Malaysia. He told that LTTE had no foreign pilots. LTTE opened fire at a crowd attempting to flee from the LTTE-held area to state-administered areas and killed 200 persons at Suthanthipuram, he said.

Daya Master says that LTTE conscripted a large number of underage children from Suthanthirampuram, Udeyarkattu and Puthukudirippu areas. They abducted even the children with heart deceases, said Daya Master.

Daya Master says he has never met Prabakaran that does not reach the lower cadres like him. “He did not come to face the people so far. We expected he would talk to Vanni people even at the last moment, but he did not come out of his hiding place. Even now, he is hiding in the no-fire zone. Around 3000 armed cadres and around 300 suicide bodyguards are remaining around him. There are around 10,000 members of the families of the LTTE cadres and war hero families,” said Daya Master.

Daya Master exposed that Prabakaran had no intention to surrender or to act peacefully. He still thinks of Ealam and has planned to flee to Welioya jungle after fighting till the end. Daya Master also said that except ‘Para,’ the LTTE cadre that was in charge of the Tiger court, no one was willing to surrender.

He said that LTTE had not assigned him any duty after 2006. Daya Master and his wife had no kids for a long time. They adopted son and later his wife gave birth to a baby girl. She is now one and half years old. Daya Master says that he has wanted to escape into the state-administered area and sent his family earlier. “I want to look after my family. As I got a chance, I slipped off with the sarong I was wearing. LTTE did not think I was to escape,” he said.

When asked why he was with LTTE so far, Daya Master said, “No one could do what LTTE had not liked as LTTE was ruling Vanni. Everything should be done as they say and no one can dissent. Consequences can be extremely dangerous.”

Daya Master has divulged information that are important military wise and the relations the groups in south had with the LTTE. CID is investigating those incidents.

Velupillai Prabhakaran

The rest of the world might never understand the violence Velupillai Prabhakaran stood for, but its imprint on Sri Lanka is wide and deep. For 26 years, the elusive leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had waged war with the government to win an independent homeland, or eelam, for the island's Tamil minority. The struggle claimed more than 70,000 lives--including, on May 18, Prabhakaran's. The government says he was killed, along with 17 of his trusted lieutenants, while fleeing an army ambush.

Prabhakaran, 54, was born to a middle-class family on the Jaffna Peninsula. Incensed by discrimination against Tamils and radicalized by a militant grade-school teacher, Prabhakaran founded the LTTE in 1976, a year after a group he headed claimed responsibility for killing Jaffna's mayor. By 1983 the guerrilla movement--which pioneered suicide bombings and the recruitment of child soldiers--escalated the fighting into a civil war.

At the height of his power earlier this decade, Prabhakaran led a de facto government that controlled vast swaths of territory and boasted its own systems of taxes, roads and courts. As the army closed in, he allegedly used thousands of Tamil civilians as human shields. By the final days, just 250 LTTE members remained. They died too, along with the dream of eelam.
