Journalist Kidnapped, Threatened and Released

Development journalist Krishni Ifam told local media how she was kidnapped and later released at Kandy.
Those who kidnapped her identified themselves as Police.

Krishni works for the development media organization Internews.

Those who kidnapped her have warned her to get out of journalism and keep her mouth shut.

Krishni said that the men who claimed to be policemen forced her to get into their vehicle outside her Colombo home and drove for several hours while keeping her blindfolded.


Media analysts say that given the type of questions put to Krishni ‘some one who knows the nuts and bolts of the trade is on the job’.
