LTTE's last underground center built with thick concrete destroyed
State media announced that the LTTE's last underground operation center located in a coconut plantation between Iranapalai and Pachchapulmoddai was destroyed by the Army 58 division yesterday. A bullet proof truck that was prepared for the Tiger leaders to flee from the underground operation center was also destroyed, said state media. The operation center was constructed with thick concrete walls.
Army says that a similar operation center with thick walls was found previously at the One Four Base in Mullaithivu jungle.
A communication antenna fixed to a tree was also recovered from the LTTE camp.
The truck that was covered with thick metal sheets could accommodate around 20 persons and Army believed that all the LTTE cadres that were to flee from this truck were killed. LTTE leader Prabakaran's son Charles Anthony was also believed injured while he was in this camp.
The photos published in state media proves that the camp and the truck were completely destroyed.
