விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கெதிரான இறுதிக் கட்டப் போரின் போது விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் தலைவர் உட்பட சிரேஸ்ட தளபதிகள் கொல்லப்பட்ட போதும், புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவுத் தலைவர் பொட்டு அம்மான் தப்பிச் சென்றுள்ளமை உறுதிசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாக இராணுவப் புலனாய்வுத் தகவல்கள் அரசாங்கத்திற்கு தகவலளித்துள்ளதாக இராணுவத்தின் நம்பகரமான தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கெதிரான இறுதிக் கட்டப் போரின் போது புலிகளின் கிழக்கு மாகாணத் தளபதி ராம், கருணா அம்மானுடன் தொலைபேசி மூலம் தொடர்புகொண்டு, தான் சரணடைய விரும்புவதாகவும், சிரேஸ்ட உறுப்பினர்கள் இருவர் காயமடைந்துள்ளதாகவும், இவர்களை சிகிச்சைக்காக வெளியேற்றுவதற்கான சந்தர்ப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்தித் தருமாறும் கோரியுள்ளார்.


இந்த இணக்கப்பாட்டிற்கமைய, 15 விடுதலைப் புலி உறுப்பினர்கள் சரணடைய வந்தபோதிலும், இவர்களில் 11 பேர் இராணுவத்தினால் கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இதனால், கேர்ணல் ராம், கருணாவுடன் ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்த தொடர்புகள் அற்றுப்போயுள்ளது.

இராணுவத்தினரால் கைதுசெய்யப்பட்டிருந்த "கொழும்பு பிரபா" என்றழைக்கப்படும் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் இயக்கத்தின் உறுப்பினரிடமிருந்து பெற்றுக்கொண்ட தகவல்களுக்கமைய, கடந்த இரண்டு வாரங்களுக்கு முன்னர் கொழும்பு, வெள்ளவத்தை 33வது ஒழுங்கையில் உள்ள கட்டிடமொன்றின், 6வது மாடியை சோதனையிட இராணுவத்தினர் சென்றுள்ளனர். எனினும், அதற்கு முன்னரே, அங்கிருந்த நபர்கள் அங்கிருந்து தப்பிச் சென்றுள்ளனர்.

Military informs government that Pottu Amman is unharmed

Military sources reportedly say that although the security forces managed to defeat the LTTE and kill its leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and several other senior leaders of the organization, its intelligence unit head, Pottu Amman, had managed to escape unharmed.

One of LTTE’s Eastern leaders, Ram had telephoned Karuna Amman during the final stage of the war and informed that he was ready to surrender to the security forces and requested for safe passage to two senior LTTE leaders, who were injured. However, the agreement arrived between Ram and Karuna Amman ended when 11 out of the 15 LTTE rebels who tried to surrender were killed by the security forces.

Military intelligence units have found that Ram had then contacted KP and discussed the evacuation of injured LTTE rebels. During the discussion, Ram had spoken about LTTE rebels who were injured and of one injured cadre as well as another LTTEer who was ready to leave the country.

Meanwhile, the army had conducted a security check on the sixth floor of a building at 33rd Lane in Wellawatte following a lead received during the interrogation of Colombo Prabha, an LTTE cadre who was arrested recently. However, when the military arrived at the venue, it had been empty as the residents had made a quick get away. The military had conducted the search operation soon after Colombo Prabha had revealed the venue frequented by members of the LTTE intelligence unit. Military intelligence units have now observed that the LTTE intelligence unit is still very active.

Military sources say the intelligence units have already informed the government that Pottu Amman had escaped unharmed. The intelligence units are now trying to determine his whereabouts.

Military sources further said the news has placed the government in a difficult position, which has been made worse by the conflicts within the security forces.
